What Happens If There's a Dispute? TumaFare's Honest Answer.

TumaFare Team·11 July 2026·5 min read

They say they arrived. You say they didn't. GPS says one thing, they say another. Here's exactly how TumaFare handles disputes — no sugarcoating.

We're going to be honest. No payment system is perfect. Disputes happen. Here's exactly what TumaFare does — and doesn't do — when things get complicated.

Scenario 1: GPS says they arrived, but you don't think so

If GPS confirms the recipient is within 500m of the agreed meeting point and they've entered the OTP, the system registers arrival. At that point, you as the sender still need to tap Approve. If you believe something is wrong — you're in different locations, they cheated the system somehow — you can decline to approve and let the timer run out.

When the timer expires without your approval, the payment returns to you automatically.

Scenario 2: They claim they arrived but GPS didn't confirm

If GPS doesn't confirm proximity, the system won't let them complete arrival verification. They physically cannot mark themselves as arrived from the wrong location. This is the core protection.

Scenario 3: GPS says they're there but it's wrong (GPS drift)

GPS can occasionally drift, especially in dense urban areas with tall buildings. In Kampala CBD or Nairobi CBD, this can happen. If a recipient is genuinely there but GPS is off, they can contact you directly and you can manually approve. You're always in control of the final release.

Scenario 4: Marketplace item dispute

You received the item but it's not what was described. Don't tap Approve. Contact the seller first. If no resolution — let the timer run out or decline approval. Refund returns to you.

The honest truth about disputes

TumaFare is not a court. We can't rule on "they said vs. they said." What we can do is give you — the sender — full control of the final release. Nobody gets paid without your approval. That's the protection.
